DUO STAR BUT REALLY JUST A MONO

I had high hopes for this comic DUO STAR RACERS, I really love TP's script, I like my general idea, I like the art BUT - based on sales and response and interest from outside my studio was loudly quiet at the time of release. I have to say that kinda bummed me out, and I guess it wasn’t seen as an easy IP sale to Hollywood, either by the people handling that side - I was going for - imagine Fast and Furious with robot racers - so I’m surprised that was hard for Hollywood people to get.

Hopefully I will tackle it again, a new start, fingers crossed - but time and life right! So sorry to people that did enjoy it, never is it our intention to do one and run, or race off on a robot!

You know saying that, I guess another issue was setting up 3A was taking my attention and time. It was a tough balancing act between both comics and toys and there were casualties like DUO.

Now I know some of you will ask why toys anyway ( so let’s have a quick aside ), well, I love them, I never fell out of love with toys since being a wee lad. The chance to make toys with abandon and set up 3A was too good an offer, and I ran with it, similar how I had done comics for almost a decade at that point ( the prior decade to that was I guess commercial comics, three decades in total now ). I figured some control of my destiny was needed and 3A was that, and let’s not forget all the publishing I did while I flew the 3A flag- not only for me, but for other artists.

I was right, too – now I have artistic freedom and a somewhat secure present and future ( is that even possible? It sounds nice, though ). Art is a harsh mistress however we approach her, we taste the whip with an everlasting hope and yearning to taste her lips.

I want another day with you!
